A short spoken walk-through of this drill.

Goal
The defender wins by intercepting the ball or forcing the attacker out of the grid; the attacker wins by scoring in either mini goal.
Setup
Create a 15x15 yard grid with two mini goals on the baseline. Place one 'wall player' on each sideline. Defenders start on the baseline; attackers start at the top.
Drill Instructions
1. The defender passes the ball to the attacker and immediately sprints to close the space. 2. The attacker tries to score in the mini goals. 3. The attacker can dribble 1v1 or pass to a side wall-player for a return pass. 4. The defender must stop the shot and intercept or block the return pass.
Coach Tip
Keep an arm's length distance after closing down and stay side-on so you can see both the ball and the runner.
Avoid
Lunging in too early or turning your back to the attacker once they pass to the wall player.
