A short spoken walk-through of this drill.

Goal
Improve reaction time and reinforce the habit of returning to a proper set position between shots.
Setup
Place two cones 3 yards apart for a mini-goal. The goalkeeper starts 1 yard behind the line; the coach stands 6 yards away with balls.
Drill Instructions
1) The goalkeeper performs quick feet in place until the coach shouts 'Ready!'. 2) The keeper snaps into a low set position with hands out. 3) The coach fires a shot toward the mini-goal. 4) The keeper makes the save, secures the ball, and returns it to the coach.
Coach Tip
Remind keepers to 'attack' the ball with their hands rather than letting the ball come to them.
Avoid
Avoid flat-footed stances or falling backward while attempting the save.
