A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete the weave without touching a cone, ensuring every touch is purposeful and the ball stays close to your feet.
Setup
Place 6-8 cones in a straight line, spaced roughly 1 to 1.5 yards apart.
Drill Instructions
1. Start at the first cone. 2. Use the outside of your right foot to push the ball diagonally through the first gap. 3. Immediately catch/stop the ball with the inside of the same foot on the other side. 4. Shift your weight and repeat the move with your left foot through the next gap. 5. Maintain a zigzag rhythm through the entire line.
Coach Tip
Stay on the balls of your feet with your knees slightly bent to help you shift your weight quickly between touches.
Avoid
Taking large touches that send the ball too far away, forcing you to chase it rather than control it.
