Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete 20 clean passes against the wall using only the weak foot without the ball leaving the gate area.
Setup
Place two cones 3 yards apart and 5 yards away from a wall to create a 'passing gate'. Stand behind the gate facing the wall.
Drill Instructions
1. Pass the ball against the wall using only your weak foot. 2. Receive the rebound with the inside of the same foot. 3. Control the ball within the gate and immediately repeat the pass. 4. Maintain a steady rhythm for 60 seconds.
Coach Tip
Keep your toes pointed slightly up and lock your ankle tight upon impact to ensure a firm, accurate pass.
Avoid
Avoid a 'floppy' foot or hitting the ball with your toes, which causes the rebound to be unpredictable.
Adjust on the fly
Make it easier
Reduce the distance to the wall and allow two or three touches to settle the ball before passing.
Make it harder
Increase the tempo to one-touch passing (no traps) or move the cones closer together to narrow the gate.
