Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Players must transition across grids immediately and prevent the new attacker from scoring.
Setup
Create two 15x10 yard grids side-by-side. Place one mini goal at the far corner of Grid A and another at the opposite far corner of Grid B.
Drill Instructions
1. Players start a 1v1 in Grid A. 2. As soon as the play ends (goal, tackle, or out of bounds), the attacker from Grid A must immediately sprint into Grid B to become the defender. 3. Simultaneously, a new attacker enters Grid B with a ball to attack the goal. 4. The cycle repeats, with players transitioning from attack to defense between the two grids.
Coach Tip
Keep your head up! As soon as your play ends, look for the next attacker before you even reach the second grid.
Avoid
Walking or jogging between grids; the gap between plays is the most important part of the drill.
