A short spoken walk-through of this drill.

Goal
Perfect a fluid motion where the first touch and the turn happen simultaneously, leaving the ball ready for the next move.
Setup
Place two cones 3-5 yards apart to create a 'gate'. Stand about 5-8 yards away from the wall or a partner.
Drill Instructions
1. Pass the ball firmly against the wall or to your partner. 2. As the ball returns, use the inside or outside of your foot to take a directional first touch through the cone gate. 3. Accelerate for 2-3 yards after the turn. 4. Reset and repeat, alternating the foot you use to turn.
Coach Tip
Check your shoulder before the ball arrives to 'scan' your surroundings, just like you would in a game.
Avoid
Avoid taking a dead touch that stops the ball directly in front of you; keep it moving.
