A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Player A tries to go as many times around the cones as they can before getting caught by Player B. Player B tries to catch Player A as quickly as possible.
Setup
Place two cones 8-10 yards apart. Player A starts with the ball at Cone 1; Player B starts without a ball at Cone 2.
Drill Instructions
1. Player A initiates the drill by dribbling as fast as possible toward Cone 2. 2. Player A must round Cone 2 and sprint back to the start. 3. Player B reacts to Player A's movement, chases them, rounds Cone 1, and tries to tag Player A. Drill only ends when Player A is caught by Player B. 4. Switch roles and go again with Player A chasing Player B. 5. Alternate the direction of the chase
Coach Tip
Keep your touches out in front of you so you can run at full speed without tripping over the ball.
Avoid
Taking too many small touches which slows down your maximum sprinting speed.
