A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete 20 consecutive one-touch passes through the gate without hitting a cone or the ball stopping.
Setup
Place two cones 2 yards apart to create a gate. Partners stand on opposite sides of the gate, 5-10 yards back.
Drill Instructions
1. Players pass the ball back and forth through the gate using only one touch. 2. Maintain a steady rhythm without the ball stopping. 3. Use the inside of the foot for all passes. 4. Stay active on toes between every strike.
Coach Tip
Keep a short backswing and lock your ankle at the moment of impact to ensure the ball stays flat and accurate.
Avoid
Leaning backward while striking, which causes the ball to hop or lose pace.
