Heads Up Grid Dribbling
5-10 minutes Solo, Partner, Group 1 ball per player, 4 cones for boundary

Listen to your Coach
Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Dribble for the duration without colliding with others or leaving the grid boundaries while maintaining a 'heads up' posture.
Setup
Create a square grid (approx. 15x15 yards, adjust for group size) and give every player a ball inside the space. If training alone or a partner, place cones throughout the grid to act as "players"
Drill Instructions
1. Players start dribbling freely inside the grid. 2. Focus on keeping eyes up to scan for open spaces and other players. 3. On coach command, perform specific tasks like 10 toe-taps, a skill move, or switching to weak foot only. 4. Constant movement is required to keep the drill dynamic.
Coach Tip
Remind players to use 'split vision'—keep the ball in your lower peripheral vision while your eyes scan the horizon.
Avoid
Dribbling with a fixed stare at the ground or standing still to avoid others.
