Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete 5 high-speed repetitions in one direction, then switch your entry point to work the opposite side.
Setup
Place 3 cones in a straight line 1 yard apart. Place 2 more cones 3 yards away from the last cone at 45-degree angles to form a 'Y' shape.
Drill Instructions
1. Weave through the 3-cone line using quick, small touches. 2. Upon exiting the last cone, take a larger 'prep touch' towards the left or right 45-degree cone. 3. Accelerate at full speed around the outer cones of the 'Y'. 4. Return to the start through the weave and repeat.
Coach Tip
Think 'small touches in the weave, big touches in the space' to emphasize the change in pace.
Avoid
Standing too tall; keep your knees bent and center of gravity low to remain agile through the turns.
