A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Perform the body feint and the outside-foot push in one fluid motion while maintaining close control.
Setup
Place cones in a zig-zag pattern 5 yards apart at 45-degree angles, creating a lane approximately 25-30 yards long.
Drill Instructions
1. Approach the first cone at a controlled speed. 2. As you reach the cone, drop your shoulder and shift your body weight dramatically over the ball to fake one way. 3. Immediately use the outside of your opposite foot to push the ball toward the next cone. 4. Accelerate briefly after the cut and repeat the feint in the opposite direction at every cone.
Coach Tip
Sell the fake! Your eyes and shoulders should convince the 'cone' defender you are going the wrong way.
Avoid
Taking too many small touches between the feint and the next cone; aim for one big explosive touch.
