Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete the entire course as fast as possible while keeping the ball within a step of your feet at every turn.
Setup
Create a T-shape using 4 cones, each spaced 5 yards apart. Start at the cone at the base of the T.
Drill Instructions
1. Dribble from the base to the center-top cone. 2. Turn around the center cone and sprint-dribble to the left end cone. 3. Turn sharply and dribble all the way to the far right end cone. 4. Turn and return to the center-top cone, then finish by dribbling back to the starting base.
Coach Tip
Use small, quick touches with the outside of your pinky toe for control, and drop your shoulder when rounding the cones.
Avoid
Taking big touches that send the ball too far away, forcing you to chase it rather than control it.
Adjust on the fly
Make it easier
Increase the distance between cones to 8 yards to allow for more recovery time between turns.
Make it harder
Perform the entire drill using only your non-dominant foot or limit the number of touches allowed between cones.
