A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
The lone defender tries to stop a goal or win the ball, while the duo tries to score quickly in the mini goal.
Setup
Place a big goal at one end and a mini goal 30 yards opposite. Set a cone 18 yards from the big goal for the attacker. Two attackers wait near the mini goal.
Drill Instructions
1. Attacker dribbles toward the cone, performs a skill move, and shoots on the big goal. 2. As soon as the shot is taken, two waiting players from the opposite end receive a ball and attack the mini goal. 3. The original shooter must immediately sprint back to defend the mini goal in a 1v2 scenario.
Coach Tip
Don't watch the ball after you shoot! Flip your 'mental switch' to defense the moment the ball leaves your foot.
Avoid
Walking back or showing frustration after a missed shot on the big goal.
