A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Score the primary goal with a clean strike, then successfully track back to stop the counter-attack goal.
Setup
Place a cone at the 'D' top of the box. Player A starts 25 yards out with a ball. Player B starts at the far post of the large goal. A small goal is placed 20 yards out facing the large goal.
Drill Instructions
1. Player A dribbles toward the cone and performs a skill move to beat it. 2. Player A must take a 'prep touch' and shoot on the second touch. 3. As soon as Player A shoots, Player B is released with a ball toward the small goal. 4. Player A must instantly sprint to defend Player B and prevent a goal.
Coach Tip
Keep your prep touch out from under your feet so you can strike the ball without breaking your stride.
Avoid
Standing still to watch your shot; you must pivot and sprint the moment the ball leaves your foot.
