A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Score as many 'gate points' as possible in 60 seconds while maintaining a high passing rhythm.
Setup
Scatter several 2-yard cone gates randomly across a 20x20 yard area. Players pair up with one ball per duo.
Drill Instructions
1. Pairs move freely around the area passing the ball. 2. To score a point, the ball must be passed through a gate to the partner on the other side. 3. Pairs cannot use the same gate twice in a row. 4. Players must keep their heads up to avoid collisions with other pairs.
Coach Tip
Focus on the weight of the pass; it should be firm enough to reach your partner but soft enough for them to transition into a new move immediately.
Avoid
Avoid 'ball watching' after you pass. As soon as the ball leaves your foot, start moving toward a new gate.
