Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete the entire line of cones with smooth, fluid movements without hitting a cone or losing control of the ball.
Setup
Place 6-8 cones in a straight line, spaced 1 to 1.5 yards apart. Stand at one end of the line with the ball.
Drill Instructions
1. Approach the first gap and perform a 'La Croqueta' by quickly sliding the ball from the inside of one foot to the other to pass the cone. 2. Use your receiving touch to deaden the ball and push it slightly forward toward the next gap. 3. Immediately repeat the move in the opposite direction through the next set of cones. 4. Continue weaving through the entire line using a rhythmic side-to-side motion.
Coach Tip
Keep your knees bent and stay on the balls of your feet to make the lateral shift more explosive.
Avoid
Taking too many extra touches between cones; the move should be a quick 'tick-tock' rhythm.
