A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Maintain a continuous, rhythmic rhythm without the ball escaping your feet while your eyes are off the ball.
Setup
Each player stands in a small 2x2 yard space with their ball. Set 2 cones in front of the player at various distances to act as visual markers.
Drill Instructions
1. Start by tapping the ball rapidly back and forth between the insides of your feet. 2. Once you find a rhythm, gradually lift your chin to look at the horizon. 3. Final progression: turn your head left and right to scan your surroundings while keeping the ball moving.
Coach Tip
Keep your knees slightly bent and stay on the balls of your feet for faster touches.
Avoid
Avoid standing flat-footed or letting the ball stop moving.
Adjust on the fly
Make it easier
Slow down the pace of the taps and allow one glance at the ball every three touches.
Make it harder
The coach holds up fingers for the player to call out the number while they perform the drill.
