A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
The runner should meet the ball in stride without stopping and score with a composed finish.
Setup
Place two cones 25 yards from goal for the passer (Player A). Place two cones 5-10 yards ahead of them to represent the 'defensive line' for the runner to surge past. The Runner (Player B) starts out wide close to the defensive line.
Drill Instructions
1. The passer dribbles toward the defensive line. 2. The runner makes a lateral movement before sprinting into the space behind the cones. 3. The passer delivers a weighted ball into the runner's path. 4. The runner takes one touch and finishes on goal. 5. Rotate players through both roles and switch which side the runner comes from halfway through.
Coach Tip
Passer: wait for the runner to point or change their speed before releasing the ball into the 'green' space.
Avoid
Avoid passing directly to the player's feet; the ball must be played into the space ahead of them.
