Coach Carter
A short spoken walk-through of this drill.
Goal
Complete the slalom weaving with sharp, one-touch turns and finish with a clear change of pace to the end target.
Setup
Create three parallel lines of 6 cones (5-8 yards long, 3-5 yards apart). Place a finishing 'sprint cone' 10 yards past the final lane.
Drill Instructions
1. Start at the bottom outside of the first lane. 2. Dribble at high speed to the top cone. 3. Perform a sharp 180-degree cut using the outside of the foot. 4. Dribble across the lane to the next cone line and repeat the cut. 5. After the final cut, explode into a full sprint with the ball to the finish cone. 6. Repeat the drill 3-5 times, then repeat the drill using the inside of your foot to make the turns.
Coach Tip
Exaggerate the 'big touch' after you make your turn to help you transition from a dribble into a full sprint.
Avoid
Taking too many small touches around the cone which kills your momentum.
