A short spoken walk-through of this drill.

Goal
Master the change of pace to catch a 'defender' flat-footed and finish accurately against the far post.
Setup
Create a 2x2 yard cone grid at the corner of the penalty box. Start with the ball 5 yards outside the grid.
Drill Instructions
1. Approach the grid slowly using small, controlled touches with the inside of your foot. 2. Just as you reach the cones, use the outside of your foot to 'explode' the ball diagonally toward the center of the field. 3. Look up immediately and strike the ball into the far post with your second touch.
Coach Tip
Exaggerate the slow-to-fast transition; the slower you start, the more effective your burst will be.
Avoid
Taking too many touches after the explosion—try to shoot on your very next step.
